Cyclist Taken To Hospital After Incident On Notorious West Wight Road

A cyclist has been taken to hospital following a serious incident on one of the Isle of Wight’s most notorious roads.

The incident, in which two cyclists fell from their bikes, happened at around 2.40pm this afternoon (Saturday), just past Isle of Wight Pearl, heading towards Freshwater.

Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary attended the scene alongside ambulance crews and a critical care paramedic, who treated an injured woman.

It’s understood that the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, with only one of the two cyclists taken to hospital for further treatment.

It is not yet clear how the cyclists came off their bikes.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement.
