Cowes RNLI lifeboat was launched at 7.17am yesterday (Saturday) when a woman aboard a

yacht in the Solent had injured her back and had difficulty in breathing after she fell heavily

on the tiller.

The yacht eventually went alongside Trinity Landing where the lifeboat crew provided First Aid and helped to convey the woman to an ambulance to be taken on to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

Cowes lifeboat was again launched at 9.44am when a Rescue Responder Alert was activated in the Solent.

A thorough search was made of the area, where a yacht race was underway, without locating the source.
