Cowes RNLI was called out on two consecutive evenings this week, including a rescue involving children stuck on a sandbank near Southampton Water.
At 7:25pm on Thursday, the lifeboat launched to assist an 8.7-metre inflatable that had run aground on Bramble Bank.
With strong south-westerly winds blowing, the crew secured the craft with an anchor to keep it stable until the rising tide refloated it. The vessel was then escorted up the River Hamble to Hamble Yacht Services.
Afterwards, the lifeboat returned to retrieve the anchor and was back at station by 9:10pm.
The previous night, while on a training exercise, the crew was diverted just after 8:00pm to help a yacht that had suffered engine failure north of the breakwater.
The drifting vessel was towed to Trinity Landing, with the lifeboat returning to base around 9:30pm.
