A consultation has begun over the possible closure of the Hare and Hounds pub in Arreton.

Pub chain Greene King says no final decision has been made at this stage, and the venue remains open and trading as normal.

A spokesperson confirmed the consultation is now underway, with a range of factors being considered before any outcome is decided.

Staff at the pub have been informed, and the company says its priority is supporting team members during the process.

Reports suggest the consultation period is expected to last around 30 days.

Greene King says it will not be able to provide further details until a final decision has been reached.

A spokesperson for Greene King said:

“We can confirm that a consultation is underway at the Hare & Hounds in Arreton as a potential closure is considered.
"Making the decision to close a pub is never an easy one and multiple factors are always considered before a final outcome is agreed.
“The team at the Hare & Hounds has been notified, and our main focus is on supporting our team members at this time.”

Always used to be a great pub with a good reputation and carvery which was popular. Shame the concentration of the pub went from the old part of the pub down to the bottom which kind of killed the character and atmosphere of the pub.
