Hundreds of music lovers descended on Robin Hill over the weekend as Classic Isle Presents returned with a spectacular double-header that transformed the Island attraction into one of the South Coast's most unique open-air concert venues.

With the acclaimed Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra headlining both evenings, audiences were treated to two very different but equally memorable performances beneath clear summer skies.

Saturday's Proms concert once again proved why it has become one of the Isle of Wight's standout summer events.

Guests arrived armed with picnic blankets, hampers and Union Flags before settling into the parkland for an evening of much-loved classical music.

The evening began with impressive performances from soprano Thea Callaghan, pianist Thomas Luke and the outstanding duo of violinist Lizzie Ball and pianist James Pearson, whose blend of virtuosity and personality immediately won over the crowd.

As the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra took to the stage, the atmosphere shifted from relaxed picnic to full-scale Proms celebration.

The orchestra delivered a powerful programme of classical favourites, with conductor Enyi Okpara keeping the audience engaged throughout.

The evening reached its traditional climax with a rousing finale accompanied by a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky, drawing huge applause from the thousands in attendance.

Less than 24 hours later, the orchestra returned for a completely different musical journey as A Night At The Movies celebrated some of the greatest film scores ever written by John Williams and Hans Zimmer.

From the ominous opening notes of Jaws and the unmistakable Imperial March from Star Wars to the soaring themes from Jurassic Park, E.T., Gladiator, Interstellar and The Da Vinci Code, the orchestra brought some of cinema's most iconic soundtracks vividly to life.

Many in the audience could be seen swaying, bobbing and weaving along to the familiar melodies, while younger visitors experienced some of Hollywood's greatest scores performed live for the very first time.

Organisers were forced to cancel the planned drone light show because of high winds.

While the decision was understandably made on safety grounds, it did little to dampen spirits after nearly three hours of outstanding live music.

Instead, the applause that greeted the orchestra at the end of their performance served as a fitting snapshot of a weekend that celebrated both classical music and the magic of the movies.

Lizzie Ball and James Pearson once again showcased their remarkable musical chemistry, providing another spellbinding performance that perfectly complemented the orchestral programme and was an ideal finale.

With beautiful weather, stunning surroundings and world-class performances from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and its guest musicians, Classic Isle Presents has firmly established itself as one of the Isle of Wight's premier cultural events.

If this weekend is anything to go by, audiences will already be looking forward to what 2027 has in store.
