A couple living at Old Charlton House care home in Cowes have marked an incredible 69 years of marriage.

Resident Joan Croutier and her husband Adrian celebrated their anniversary on March 23, having tied the knot at Cowes Methodist Church back in 1957.

Looking back on their special day, the pair recalled honeymooning in Brighton, where they stayed with an aunt as money was tight at the time.

They also shared a fond memory from their journey, when the ferry captain sounded the horn for them, with a group of handbell players lined up along the seafront playing in response.

The couple celebrated their anniversary with a meal at Old Charlton House, where they were presented with a fruit cake made especially for them by the home’s chef, Leigh.

They were later joined by family members as they opened cards to mark the occasion.
