Islanders considering a career in care or health are being invited to a free careers festival in Newport next week.

The Isle of Wight Council’s Care and Health Careers Festival takes place at Lord Louis Library on Wednesday, 16 September, from 10am to 2pm.

The event will bring together local employers, volunteering organisations, training providers and healthcare professionals, with information on current vacancies, training and career development.

It’s open to anyone looking for their first job, considering a career change, returning to work or exploring new opportunities.

A range of roles will be highlighted, including frontline care and healthcare, administration, support services and specialist positions.

Visitors can also find out about volunteering opportunities, while the Isle of Wight Council Fostering Team will be attending for the first time to provide information about fostering and the support available to carers.

NHS organisations attending include the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Health Services, NHS Professionals and NHS Working Towards Wellbeing.

Organisers say the festival is a chance to discover rewarding careers on the Island and meet potential employers and training providers.

Admission is free and there’s no need to book.
