A section of Monkton Street in Ryde has been closed after a car overturned following a collision with traffic lights this lunchtime (Thursday).
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 12.15pm, after a Skoda hatchback left the carriageway, struck roadside infrastructure and came to rest on its side.
Police, firefighters and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service paramedics attended the incident, with the driver receiving medical assessment at the scene.
Despite the dramatic nature of the collision, no serious injuries have been reported.
The impact destroyed a set of traffic lights, leaving Monkton Street closed in both directions between St John's Road and Park Road while the vehicle is recovered and the damaged infrastructure is made safe.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible.
Southern Vectis says Routes 2, 3 and 8 heading towards Ryde are diverting via East Hill Road, Dover Street and Park Road until the road reopens.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed:
"We were called at around 12:15pm today (Thursday 23 July) to a report of a single vehicle collision on St Johns Hill in Ryde.
"One person reported minor injuries."
