Blackgang Chine is celebrating after scooping three honours at this year’s UK Theme Park Awards, which recognise excellence across the visitor attractions industry.

The Isle of Wight park — the oldest amusement park in the UK — picked up:

  • Gold for Best Customer Service (Small)

  • Silver for Best Seaside Park (South)

  • Bronze for Best Marketing Campaign (Talking Bins with Joe Sugg)

The awards are decided through a mix of public votes and judging by an expert panel, with organisers saying competition was tougher than ever this year.

Park Manager Dan White said the Gold award for Customer Service was a particularly proud achievement:

“Customer service is at the heart of everything we do. To be recognised nationally is a huge testament to the passion, energy and commitment of our incredible team.”

It comes after Blackgang Chine also achieved a 98% score for Customer Service in its recent VisitEngland assessment.

The park’s unique clifftop location was highlighted in the Silver award for Best Seaside Park, while the Bronze for Best Marketing Campaign showed how creativity can compete with big budgets.

The “Talking Bins with Joe Sugg” campaign — which went viral online — began as a simple idea with no funding, but captured the imagination of families across the country.

Head of Marketing Laura Baxter said:

“This campaign really is the embodiment of what Blackgang Chine is about — creating those core childhood memories that transcend generations.
"Joe’s story with his niece and homemade bin captured everyone’s hearts.”

Blackgang Chine continues to welcome thousands of visitors each year and these latest accolades cement its place not only as a much-loved Island attraction, but also as a nationally recognised leader in the industry.
