Bank holiday travel plans have been thrown into disarray after Wightlink cancelled several evening sailings on its Yarmouth to Lymington route because of what it described as “unexpected crew sickness”.

The cross-Solent operator confirmed the disruption shortly after midday on Monday (May 25), with a number of crossings withdrawn at short notice.

The cancelled sailings are the 18:00 and 20:00 departures from Lymington, alongside the 19:05 and 21:05 services from Yarmouth.

Wightlink said affected passengers had been contacted directly and transferred onto alternative sailings where possible.

A spokesperson for the company said:

“All booked customers have been contacted and moved onto alternative sailings, where possible.”

Services on Wightlink’s other Isle of Wight routes are currently operating as normal.
