Armed Response Incident Comes To Safe Conclusion In Sandown As 18 Year Old Arrested

Armed officers were called to a property on Victoria Road in Sandown last night (Sandown) following concerns that a firearm may have been present inside.
Police were initially called to the address at around 8pm, returning later with additional support. In total, 11 police units, including firearms officers, attended the scene.
The property, believed to be occupied by squatters, was searched but no weapons were found. At least five individuals, thought to be homeless, were detained during the incident.
An 18-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of cannabis possession and obstructing an emergency worker. He was later dealt with by way of a community resolution.
The incident was safely resolved, and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that no firearms were located at the scene.
