Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Thames Valley Police said officers are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk, as well as at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where Andrew lived until recently.

Photographs taken earlier today show vehicles believed to be police cars arriving at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

The development comes after Thames Valley Police confirmed they were assessing a complaint concerning the alleged sharing of confidential material by Andrew with the late US financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a statement, King Charles III said he had “learned with the deepest concern” of the arrest and added that “the law must take its course”.

It is understood that neither the King nor Buckingham Palace were informed ahead of the arrest.

Andrew, who turns 66 today, has previously denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

He has not responded to requests for comment regarding the specific allegations linked to the publication of Epstein-related files in January.

Investigations remain ongoing.
