Concerns about ambulance services, access to dentists and the quality of mental health crisis support are among the key issues highlighted in Healthwatch Isle of Wight’s latest monthly intelligence report.
The report, covering feedback gathered between 13 November and 12 December 2025, brings together the experiences of Islanders using health and social care services.
It will be shared with local providers and commissioners to highlight where services are working well and where improvements are needed.
During the reporting period, Healthwatch Isle of Wight recorded:
51% negative feedback (116 responses)
46% positive feedback (104 responses)
3% mixed or neutral feedback (8 responses)
Key Issues Raised by the Public
One of the strongest themes in the report is public concern about potential changes to the Isle of Wight ambulance service, with some Islanders worried about reduced provision as the population continues to grow.
Access to NHS dentistry also remains a major issue, with negative feedback largely linked to the availability and cost of treatment, as well as concerns about the quality of dental services.
Mental health support features prominently, particularly around crisis services, continuity of care, and long waiting times. Some people reported feeling unsupported after transitions between services, including young people moving from CAMHS into adult mental health care.
Positive Experiences Also Highlighted
Alongside concerns, the report also captures examples of excellent care.
Islanders praised GP services, NHS 111, out-of-hours care, and pharmacy support, with some highlighting fast responses, compassionate staff and effective treatment.
One person described receiving same-day GP support following an online consultation, while another praised NHS 111 and out-of-hours services for resolving a medical issue within two hours.
