The Alamo Bar and Grill in Ryde has announced it will be closing its doors for the final time on Saturday (21st March).

It brings an end to a 12-year tenure for the popular seafront eatery.

A statement from the restaurant read:

"Attention valued customers... We regret to inform you that we will be shutting our doors for the last time on Saturday 21st March.
"This decision hasn't come lightly but with today's climate we have decided to step away and focus on our family.
"Firstly, we would like to thank our wonderful team who have worked hard and supported us throughout everything – Alamo Family Always!
"We would like to thank our family and friends who have always been there.
"Lastly, we would like to thank our valued customers. It's been an emotional 12 years.
"Hard work, blood, sweat and tears. But most importantly all the laughter and memories. Peace out – Sam and Dan! xxx"

The restaurant, a fixture in Ryde for more than a decade, has been praised for its food, atmosphere, and welcoming service.

There has been an outpouring of support from the community since the announcement.

Patrons shared memories and messages of thanks, with one saying they had spent “many wonderful evenings” being looked after by the team and would miss it “dreadfully,” while another described the restaurant as “amazing” and wished the owners good luck for the future.

Others praised the food, calling it the “best bacon on a full English” and remembering their first visit with fondness.

Sam and Dan, who have run The Alamo for 12 years, said the decision to close was a difficult one, reflecting the hard work, dedication, and countless memories created at the venue over the years.

The final weekend of service will see the Ryde favourite open one last time, allowing locals and visitors to say goodbye to a long-standing community favourite.
