Community groups across the Isle of Wight are being urged to apply for a share of more than £530,000 in funding to help support residents through the cost-of-living crisis.

The Isle of Wight Council’s Community Grant Scheme opens for applications on 1 September, with money available for projects tackling food insecurity, utility costs and other essentials.

The scheme is funded through the government’s Household Support Fund.

Since its launch in 2021, around 250 Island projects have already benefited — from community kitchens and cooking classes to advice services helping residents stay afloat.

Ian Lloyd, from the council’s support services team, said:

“This funding is a lifeline for many grassroots projects. It’s not just about meeting immediate needs – it’s about building resilience and supporting long-term change.”

The current funding window runs until 30 September, with one final round due to open in January before the Household Support Fund ends in March 2026.

No further funding is expected after that.

📌 Community organisations, charities, schools and local councils can all apply.

ℹ️ More details and application guidance are available on the council’s Household Support Fund webpages.
