The popular Winter is Coming event is back for its sixth year, offering vital support to Isle of Wight residents as the colder months approach.

Organised by local fuel poverty charity The Footprint Trust, the event aims to help Islanders save money, improve wellbeing, and build resilience during winter.

Taking place on Thursday (16 October) at the Riverside Centre in Newport, this year promises the largest and most comprehensive event yet.

Attendees can meet representatives from over 15 local organisations offering advice and assistance on energy bills, food security, housing, healthcare, employment skills, benefits, and more.

There will also be dedicated services for families and children.

Whether it’s guidance on household finances, accessing warm clothing, or connecting with community support services, Winter is Coming provides a one-stop-shop for essential resources.

Laura Stichbury, Manager of The Footprint Trust, said:

“By bringing together a wide range of local support groups, Winter is Coming gives our community the best chance to stay resilient.
"With the rising cost of living, this collaborative approach is more important than ever.”

Senior Energy Guide Steve Howes added:

“We’re thrilled to welcome more than 15 dedicated local organisations, making it easier for Islanders to access the help they need, all in one place.”

Participating organisations include Southern Water, Southern Housing, Age UK, Barnardo’s, Healthwatch Isle of Wight, Pyle Street Pantry, and many more.
