14-year-old charged following assault in Cowes

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after a 74-year-old man was assaulted in Cowes.

We were contacted at 6:45pm on Wednesday 25 March with a report that a 74-year-old man from Cowes had suffered injuries to his ribs and been punched in the head in an assault at around 3pm on the same day on Ward Avenue, Cowes. The man is now recovering at home.

Following enquiries a 14-year-old boy from East Cowes was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and he has now been charged with this offence.

He remains on bail with conditions to next appear at Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday 12 August 2026.
