Red Funnel has announced that Young Lives vs Cancer has been elected as its Charity of the Year for 2022.
The announcement follows the results of a vote by both the general public and Red Funnel colleagues.
The charity provides support for young people living with cancer as well as their families. From the beginning of the treatment and throughout their journey, they help provide the strength, support and resources needed to face everything that cancer throws at them.
Over the last year, the team has supported more than 200 families across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
Fran Collins, chief executive of Red Funnel, said:
“We are in awe of the dedication, commitment, and passion that the team at Young Lives vs Cancer have whilst serving those in need.
"We look forward to working in partnership with them over the next 12 months and hope we can work together to continue to raise funds for the vital support they offer patients and families in their time of need.”
All funds Red Funnel raises will help Young Lives vs Cancer to support children and young people, from babies up to the age of 24 years old.
Speaking on behalf of Young Lives vs Cancer, Liz Blunt, senior fundraising engagement manager, said:
“We don’t receive government funding and it’s vital that families get the support they need at such a distressing time.
"A massive thank you to everyone who took part in the vote, this is such a significant partnership and we are really excited to be working with Red Funnel.”
Young Lives vs Cancer succeeds Isle of Wight Independent Lifeboats, which held the distinction of Red Funnel’s Charity of the Year in 2021.
A final announcement of total funds raised along with a cheque presentation is due to be announced soon.
