Windsurfer Rescued After Drifting One Mile Off Shanklin

A windsurfer - who got into difficulty off around one mile off Shanklin - was rescued and brought back to shore yesterday (Thursday).

Ventnor Coastguard was called to Hope Beach, on the seafront, just after 6.30pm.

Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat was also called ot the incident.

Fortunately, a safety boat from Shanklin Sailing Club was able to offer assistance and recover to the shore.

Ventnor Coastguard has thanked 999 callers and the sailing club for their prompt actions.
