Firefighters have been called to a wheelie bin fire this morning (Thursday) at Kite Hill, near Wootton.
Crews from Newport and Ryde were called to the incident at 9.38am.
The quick-thinking actions of a Parcelforce deliveryman, in the area at the time, have been praised by the fire service.
Named locally as Darren Masterton, he managed to stop the fire spreading further.
Some very minor damage has been caused to the adjoining property.
Crews are preparing to stand down from the incident.
