WATCH: Lorry Destroys Ticket Booth At Red Funnel Terminal

A lorry has crashed into a ticket booth at Red Funnel's Southampton terminal.

Footage shows the back end of the vehicle clipping the booth and knocking it to the ground.

It is not known whether anyone was in the booth at the time, but video does show two people leaving only moments before.

Footage caught on camera by Solent Ships shows Red Funnel staff and onlookers rushing to the collapsed booth.


The incident happened at just before 1pm this afternoon (Monday). A car, stationary on the other side of the booth, has also been involved.

Red Funnel has confirmed three staff members were inside the booth when it collapsed.

A spokesperson said:

“Following a traffic accident at Terminal 1 in Southampton this afternoon we are expecting delays and increased levels of traffic in the Town Quay area.

“Three Red Funnel colleagues were inside a check in kiosk which was struck by an HGV this afternoon. Our priority is the safety of our team members and passengers, and although there are no significant injuries, both Police and Ambulance services are in attendance as a precaution.

“The incident area has now been secured and we are currently operating a shuttle service to clear traffic as quickly as possible. We advise anyone travelling today to arrive no sooner than 30 minutes prior to departure and to check the service status on the Red Funnel website where updated departure and arrival times are available: https://www.redfunnel.co.uk/en/isle-of-wight-ferry/service-status/. Only passengers with a booking are advised to travel to the terminal.”

Hampshire Constabulary said:

"We were called at 1.05pm to Town Quay in Southampton following reports a lorry had collided with a ticket booth.

"The incident is ongoing and we remain at the scene."

UPDATED 5PM

A shuttle service is now running on Red Funnel, meaning it will leave when it is full - so as to clear traffic.

A spokesperson for the ferry firm said:

“Following a traffic accident at Terminal 1 in Southampton this afternoon we are expecting delays and increased levels of traffic in the Town Quay area.
