Grants of up to £7,500 are now available to help organisations deliver initiatives that address the root causes of violence in under 25s.
Further funding of up to £3,000 is also available to help provide new or additional activities for families and young people living on the Isle of Wight.
Violence Reduction Unit Grants are available for schemes that reduce serious violence, with a focus on young people under the age of 25.
Previously supported initiatives include positive diversionary activities for young people, such as an allotment project and cooking programme, as well as interventions that address issues around emotional health and wellbeing.
The Early Help Community Capacity Building Grant is available to local groups, clubs and enterprises through the council’s strengthening families programme.
It will help new or existing providers organise activities, clubs or groups for families and young people up to the age of 19 (up to 25 with specified additional needs) and/or families, parents and carers.
Grants could be used to set up schemes such as new baby or toddler groups, teenage groups or family-based groups focusing on mental health and wellbeing.
Both grants are now available for applications, and organisations are encouraged to apply by 9 July 2021.
Councillor Debbie Andre, Cabinet member for children's services, education and skills, said:
"This funding will help to provide further activities to support Island families as we start to have more freedoms from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We know that effective early help plays a key role in ensuring positive outcomes for local children and families. And we want to ensure there are long-term sustainable provisions in place that are community led and available for all families on the Island, especially those in deprived or disadvantaged areas.”
