Two Women Arrested On The Isle Of Wight In Connection With West Midlands Murder

EXCLUSIVE: Two women have been arrested on the Isle of Wight in connection with the murder of a man in the West Midlands.

Isle of Wight police were seen entering a property on St John's Road, Ryde shortly after 8.30am this morning (Friday).

Isle of Wight Radio can exclusively reveal that two women were detained by police, in connection with the murder of Tamba Momodou, a 20 year-old man from Telford.

Mr Momodu was shot multiple times and fatally wounded at around midday on Tuesday October 13 last year, in the car park of Bridges Business Park, in Horsehay. Despite the efforts of medics, he died at the scene.

A murder investigation was launched and a number of arrests have been made.

A murder appeal was launched by West Mercia Police to find the killers.

The charity, Crimestoppers, said:

"It’s believed that the individuals arrived in a grey Skoda KAROQ with the false number plate YB69 VBO. They opened fire on Mr Momodu in public, next to several occupied business premises, which included a children’s nursery.

"They then left the area, travelling away from Telford in different vehicles. It is believed these wanted individuals have ties with Northolt in west London, Southampton and Glasgow.

"The Skoda car was later found, burned out in the Forest Glen car park, at the foot of the Wrekin at around 10pm.

"Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information the charity exclusively receives – either online or by calling freephone 0800 555 111 – that leads to the arrest and conviction of those linked to the murder of Tamba Momodu.

"In addition to the Skoda, information on anybody connected with the following vehicles is also required: A white Toyota IQ, AO59 UOX; a grey T-Cross, GK20 FXR; a black Audi A5, SE14 VBO; a white BMW 320D YT63 HGG and a grey Jaguar OV19 WMF.

"Although no one has been charged with this murder to date, a number of arrests have been made."

A spokesperson for West Mercia police told Isle of Wight Radio:

"Two women were arrested in connection with a murder investigation after a man was shot in Telford last October."

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary told Isle of Wight Radio:

"Officers were assisting colleagues from West Mercia Police in the Ryde area this morning (June 25) to make an arrest relating to a West Mercia Police investigation. This relates to an incident in the Telford area – there are no offences relating to the Isle of Wight."

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Bellamy is the senior investigating officer for the murder investigation.

He said:

“Our thoughts remain with Tamba's family at this time. I would like to thank the public for their assistance with our enquiries so far and continue to appeal to anyone who does have information that may assist to please let us know. If they do not want to report this to police they can do so anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
