Temporary Changes To Council Services During Isle Of Wight Festival

A number of Isle of Wight council services will be temporarily affected when the Isle of Wight Festival returns to Newport next weekend (17-19 June).

The Register Office, Coroner's Office and 1Leisure Medina are among services to face partial opening hours, or a change of location while the festival is in town.

Here's how services are affected:

Seaclose Office, Newport

Seaclose Office, Newport will be closed from 12pm on Thursday 16 June – partially reopening to the public from 8.30am on Monday 20 June (depending on the service required) and fully open to the public from 8.30am on Tuesday 21 June.

Anyone attending this office between Monday 13 June and Thursday 16 June is only advised to do if strictly necessary. Parking during this period only will be at the entrance to Seaclose Park on the grassed area.

Register Office

The Isle of Wight Council's Register Office Marriage Room will temporarily move to County Hall in Newport during the festival. From Friday 17 June until close of business on Saturday 18 June, all civil ceremonies will be held at County Hall, High Street, Newport. The civil ceremonies will be back at Seaclose Park from Monday 20 June.

The Registers Seaclose offices will be closed for face to face appointments from 12 midday on Thursday 16 June, and all day Friday 17 June and  Saturday 18 June.

All birth, death, marriage notices and further information telephone enquiries will continue to be handled via the existing number, (01983) 823233.

Coroner’s Office

The Coroner’s Office will operate from Seaclose offices as usual, although there will be no provision for personal collection of paperwork from Thursday 16 June at 12 midday until Monday 20 June. Telephone enquiries will continue to be handled via the existing number, (01983) 823010.

The crematorium will be operating its usual opening hours over the weekend of Saturday 18 June and Sunday 19 June, from 10am to 2pm.

Planning/ICT offices

The council’s Planning Services (including Building Control) office will be closed to the public from 12pm Thursday 16 June, Friday 17 June, and Monday 20 June. In the days leading up to and after the festival there will be public access but parking will be extremely limited so customers are advised it may be better to avoid the Seaclose office, unless it is to attend a pre-arranged meeting. The office will be open as normal to the public from 8.30am on Tuesday 21 June.
