Team Effort Clears Fly Tipped Waste From Ancient Woodland

Three Island businesses have come together to help protect an ancient woodland after waste was fly-tipped.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, wildlife charity People's Trust For Endangered Species (PTES) reported an increase in rubbish being left in Briddlesford Woods.

After seeing the state of the woodland and the amount of waste that had been abandoned there - potentially causing harm to the natural wildlife - Christopher Plant of Tyres of Wight burst into action.

A team was soon assembled, with Christopher, Johnny from Ace Waste, and Sam from Island Tipper Services all heading to the site to see what could be done.

The businesses collaboratively gathered and removed the waste from the area, with all three not only collecting it - but also helping financially to dispose of it correctly.

In a Facebook post, Christopher Plant, owner of Tyres of Wight, said:

"We would like to express our gratitude to both ACE WASTE and Island Tipper Services today for helping us with the recent Fly tip at People's Trust for Endangered Species site in Briddlesford.

"We couldn't have done this without you!

"Unfortunately a large number of tyres and other rubbish, including clothes, wood and household waste, had been dumped on this site. This causes potential harm and damage to the endangered wildlife that calls this beautiful place home!

"Johnny from Ace Waste and Sam from Island Tipper Services not only offered to help financially towards the cost of the tyre disposal but also offered their time to come and help clear the site.

"Whilst on site Johnny at Ace waste also offered to remove the rubbish and other items that had been dumped ensuring nothing was left behind! A few black bags were passed around and off we went to complete a little litter pick of the area."
