Isle of Wight Police have been cracking down on the supply of Class A drugs to the Island, with the help of a furry friend.

Officers from the Ryde Neighbourhood Team and the Dog Support Unit – including PD Sam - attended Ryde Sorting Office yesterday (Monday).

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, officers have teamed up with Royal Mail to target the supply of drugs coming to the Island in the post.

The collaboration also helps to enhance the dog’s training.

Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said:

‘Sam had a great time and is now catching up on his paperwork.

‘We will always look at all tactical options to disrupt the drug supply on the Island.’

If you have information that could assist officers, you can report anonymously via crime stoppers or the Hampshire Constabulary website.
