Three people have reportedly been taken to St. Mary's Hospital after a crash between two cars on Saturday evening (May 1) on East Hill Road in Ryde.

The vehicles collided at 6pm, and emergency services attended soon after.

Firefighters reportedly assisted two of the casualties to leave a vehicle, and police said none of the injuries sustained by any of the three people transported to hospital is life-threatening.

Sgt. Radford of Isle of Wight Police said:

"It amazes me every time I go to an accident like this that no one was killed.

"This accident has resulted in a male being arrested on suspicion of drug driving and other offences.

"If you do drink/drug drive expect to lose your licence, a fine and depending on the circumstances, community service or a prison sentence."
