Sun, Sea And The Gracellie — Shanklin Hotel Undergoes Major Refurb

After months of refurbishment works, Shanklin's Gracellie Hotel has a fresh new look — and it's come just in time for the summer.

Boasting stunning views of the English Channel, the hotel — based on Hope Road — has been undergoing an extensive revamp.

20 of the building's 50 rooms have so far been given an upgrade, with more planned in the near future.

The restaurant, kitchen, reception area and the outside balcony (at the front of the hotel) have also been revamped.

It has taken three months but staff, led by Kelly Vincent, say they're now "back in the game".

Kelly's dad Phillip Wagstaff has owned the Gracellie for 12 years and named the hotel after his two granddaughters, Ellie and Grace.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, he promised "we're here to stay".

"I've been coming to the Island for shy of 40 years. I love this Island, it's so beautiful. It's a wonderful place to be.

"We are part of this community and we want to help the community too. We want to take but we want to give as well. Even if we give more, that's what we want to do."

The hotel has a family and dog-friendly ethos.

Whether it's for a drink, a bite to eat or to stay, staff are encouraging guests to pop on in, say hello and to see for themselves the enviable views of the sea.

Charlotte Corbet is the new General manager. She said:

"Just come in! We're super friendly, dog-friendly. We've got the perfect location to just sit, look at the sea and enjoy yourselves with a glass of something and maybe some dinner.

"And if you don't want to leave, stay the night!"

Gracellie — and its restaurant — are open for business now.
