Success For Youngsters In South Wight Taking Part In Easter Activities

Members of SWAY meeting up to cook over zoom

Around 60 young Islanders in the South Wight have been enjoying their Easter holidays with a range of activities thanks to charity SWAY.

South Wight Area Youth Partnership (SWAY) plotted another geo-cache route based on the Easter theme. The hunt was on for 20 Holy symbols which by means of codes could be identified from biblical references.

Around 30 youngsters also went kayaking at Corf Camp over two days, they were watched and joined by some highly entertaining seals also enjoying the spring weather!

The group of young people negotiated the tides and the wind with the help of trained supervisors.

SWAY’s Box Project has been such a lifeline over lockdown, and yet again, produced another successful meal for the whole family, as previously reported.

Andy Dorning, Lead Youth Worker said:

‘We all enjoyed last year’s geo-cache so much that we wanted to do this again and at Corf we were able to safely get out on the water.
SWAY’s Box Project has meant young people can learn skills and do group activities together from home.

'The summer sees new versions with ‘One-Pot’ cooking over a fire and ‘Baking-for-a-Picnic’ followed by a socially distanced picnic.'
