Social Care Careers Fair Hopes To Make A Difference

The Isle of Wight Council is to hold a careers fair for those thinking of working in adult social care.

The event on 25 April at the IW College is open to everyone and is an opportunity for people interested in care work to speak to local providers and people who are working in frontline caring roles about job opportunities.

Cllr Karl Love, Cabinet member for adult social care, said:

"Covid has put immense strain on an already stretched social care system, with the impacts felt across the country as well as the Island.

"As part of our ongoing response to the pandemic and to the continuing needs of our ageing and vulnerable population, we are telling all potential jobseekers that they can make a difference by applying for our vital social care roles."

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • meet local care employers and discover various types of care roles;
  • listen to first-hand experiences from care workers;
  • review and update their current CV;
  • discuss training courses and options available with local training providers;
  • sign up to a free three-day course on social care with guaranteed interviews for vacant roles.

Find out how you can make a difference by attending the adult social career event between 10am and 1pm.

Turn up on the day or book in advance by calling 821000, and using extension 5971 or 6105.
