Bob Seely is among those to have backed plans aimed at toughening rules on second jobs for MPs.
But the Isle of Wight's MP last night voted down a Labour motion, instead opting to vote for Government proposals.
Labour argues they're nothing more than a "watered down" version of what it put forward.
Labour's Anneliese Dodds said:
"We wanted to see action very quickly around that [second jobs]. Instead, effectively, the Government motion is not binding and really just suggest they'll be more talks around that."

The vote followed allegations of sleaze over the handling of Conservative Owen Paterson's breach of rules.
Yesterday Boris Johnson admitted he'd 'crashed the car into a ditch' on the issue.
The government's plan to crack down on work outside of Westminster passed - with a committee to draw up the exact next steps.
