Sea Sick Sailors Rescued By Yarmouth RNLI Off The Needles

Sea sick sailors had to be rescued by Yarmouth RNLI crews after their vessel suffered engine failure.

Yarmouth’s Severn class all weather lifeboat, Eric and Susan Hiscock (Wanderer), was tasked to launch by HM Coastguard at 10.12am.

A 28ft motor boat had lost power south west of the Needles. The engine had failed and with 10 – 15 knots of westerly wind against the ebbing tide.

The vessel was drifting making conditions unpleasant for the two persons onboard, resulting in them suffering from sea sickness.

Having put an RNLI crew member onto the disabled motor boat to assess the situation, the coxswain made the decision to tow the vessel to Yarmouth as it was the nearest safe harbour.

Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat returned to her berth and was ready for service at 12.30pm.
