Red Funnel Apology After Three Stuck In Isle Of Wight Ferry Lift

Red Funnel has apologised after three people, travelling to the Isle of Wight on one of its ferries, were left stuck in a lift for around 20 minutes.

The incident is said to have happened on the firm's 5pm Red Falcon sailing, to the Island, on Friday (25).

It's understood the alarm and intercom system in the lift failed, leaving the customers trapped.

Red Funnel has blamed a 'technical fault' and has offered its 'sincere apologies'.

Fran Collins, Chief Executive of Red Funnel, said:

“On Friday 25 June we responded to an incident in one of our ferry lifts. Unfortunately due to a technical fault, three passengers were held in the lift before our engineer resolved the issue and enabled them to alight.

"We provided them with seating in our Signature Lounge and ensured they were comfortable for the remainder of their journey with us.

"We sincerely apologise for what happened... We are working hard to ensure our lifts are back in working order as quickly as possible.”

The ferry firm says it's in the process of reaching out to the affected passengers to follow up "on how they’re doing".
