A popular Shanklin pub has closed its doors after a number of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Shanklin's Village Inn, based in the town's Old Village, announced the news in a post on Facebook today (Monday).

A spokesperson for the pub said:

"As if this year couldn’t get any worse some staff members have been positively tested for Covid and is with sadness we will be closing till the 30th December.

"This is to ensure the safety of all our customers and staff."

The establishment will be contacting anyone who has visited the premises in recent days, and it's expected that the NHS Track and Trace system will be establishing contact with anyone who needs to self-isolate.
