Plans To Convert Ryde Gift Shop Into Takeaway Outlet

Google Maps (C).

A gift shop on Ryde seafront could be converted into a takeaway outlet, if plans are approved.

The store currently at 13 Esplanade Ryde won't be closing but will instead relocate to larger premises 'close by', according to the council's website.

Proposals to turn the building into a hot/cold food takeaway business have been put forward.

The applicant said the change in use will 'allow additional choice in the food sector for the benefit of the Ryde population and holidaying tourists'.

The planning statement said proposals would mean the 'prime location' of the unit, opposite Ryde Bus Station, is utilized.

Access to the takeaway would be through the front of the building, and the plans do not alter the external appearance of the shop front or the interior.

You can view the application (21/00307/FUL) on the Isle of Wight Council’s planning register.

A Rocket Ronnies pool hall is already set to open next door. Islanders will be able to visit from May 17.
