Open Day For Isle Of Wight's Charity Supporting The Blind And Visually Impaired

The team at Sight for Wight

The charity that supports the blind and visually impaired on the Isle of Wight is hosting an open day this weekend (Saturday).

Sight for Wight, the Isle of Wight's oldest charity, is inviting people to come along and meet the team and volunteers in Carisbrooke.

New members have requested an open day to meet up face to face and hear more about what support the charity offers.

There will be activities, a befriending service and the chance to get advice on one to one support, as well as help for the whole family.

CEO of the charity, Lisa Hollyhead told Isle of Wight Radio:

"We have got 12 organisations attending and it really is a great opportunity for a one-stop-shop to come and see how other people can help anyone living with sight loss here on the Island...We have a lot of equipment set up that can be tried and tested...

"It would be great if people could let us know if they are coming as one of our trustees is cooking a BBQ but if you want to pop in you can do so anytime - the stalls and volunteers will be there all day.

"I really hope people take advantage of the opportunity to come because we have some people coming from the mainland and there will be lots of talks and lots of equipment."

You can also get the chance to try out the equipment and listen to the audio library - which includes talking news.

The day starts at 10.30am until 5.30pm.
