One of the UK's most exciting bands - and Isle of Wight natives - Wet Leg, are on the cover of NME's Big Read this week.

In the feature, the band, fronted by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, talk about their sudden rise to fame, a shared love of The Lord of the Rings, what it's like being best friends in a band and more.

It comes exactly three weeks before the release of the band's self-titled debut album.

Speaking about their sudden fame, Hester says:

“It’s ironic we found success once we decided we weren’t going to try really hard."

Of being best friends in a band, Rhian says:

“Being in a band can make or break a friendship… we’re staying solid.

“Every time we leave each other for a couple of days and then get back in the van, we’re like, ’It’s so nice to get the band back together!’

"Every day there’s always something – big things, small things – where we definitely need each other."

Meanwhile, Hester offers some insight into the duo's song writing process when she tells NME:

“I’m quite a lazy songwriter. It’s an acknowledgement rather than me processing anything.

"It’s like I know this is myself right now, and I haven’t been able to switch to the optimistic side of feeling existential yet.”
