Newchurch Schoolchildren Enjoy Festive Santa Dash

Children at Newchurch Primary School have been getting into the Christmas spirit with a festive Santa Dash.

The school held two Santa Dashes for Year 5 and 6 children and one for Year 3 and 4 children.

Due to COVID restrictions, the school cancelled its Cross Country Club this term, something which is always extremely popular with the children.

Due to Tier 1 coronavirus regulations, the children were given the chance to run within their bubbles with their friends, whilst listening to Christmas music and wearing their festive fancy dress.

At the end of each run the children were given a Santa Dash medal, a hot chocolate and a slice of chocolate log for their efforts.

The Year 5 and 6 children ran over three miles, whilst the Year 3 & 4 children covered 2.75 miles, taking in Christmas lights and a field of Christmas Trees.

The Year 3 and 4 run was led by former Newchurch Head Teacher Mrs Jo Payne, a keen runner herself.

More than 60 children took in the runs.
