Newchurch Primary Youngsters Earn London Mini Marathon Medals

Youngsters at Newchurch Primary School have received London Mini Marathon medals for their athletic efforts.

Last term, the school took part in the very first virtual London Mini Marathon, following the cancellation of the event.

Teacher, Adam Tuck, along with several parents from the school were set to run the London Marathon - and hope to next year.

Each class was set the challenge of completing 2.6 miles within a week. Some of the older children ran it during Cross Country Club, whilst others ticked off the miles whilst taking on a cross-curricular walk. The younger children tallied up the miles over the week running laps of the school field.

All classes - from Reception to Year 6 - completed the 2.6 mile challenge.

Mr Tuck said:

"We also used it as a school fundraiser, having missed out on many events such as the Newchurch Nine, the Federation Sponsored Walk and our Summer Fayre.

"This week we took delivery of some fantastic London Mini Marathon medals. These are a real keepsake, as it is an event that is usually very difficult to get entry into."
