Man Injured In 'Hit And Run' Incident In Ryde - Vehicle Sought By Police

A man in his 30s has been seriously injured in a 'hit and run' incident in Ryde.

A collision is believed to have happened - between a car and a pedestrian - on Ashey Road, sometime between 12.30am and 1am this morning (Thursday).

A man in his 30s suffered serious injuries in the incident and was seen by paramedics.

The vehicle involved in the collision is believed to have been dark coloured and will now have damage to its front - which police are trying to locate.

Officers remain at the scene this morning while enquiries continue as to the exact circumstances.

 A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area between 12.30am and 1am, or who may have seen a dark-coloured vehicle with damage to the front this morning."

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 94 of today's date (April 29).

Ashey road has now reopened to traffic in both directions following the closure.

Southern Vectis route 37 buses are expected to resume their normal routes shortly.
