Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Drink Driving Following Shanklin Crash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and failing to stop after a car crashed in Shanklin Old Village last night (Wednesday).

Emergency services were called to Church Road shortly before 11.30pm after a Mitsubishi Shogun collided with a building and bollards.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:

"A 60 year man, who is from Shanklin, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit and failing to stop after an accident following the single vehicle collision outside the Village Inn pub in the Old Village at around 11.20pm.

"He currently remains in custody."
