A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a shop door was smashed in Newport last night (Sunday).
Central Convenience Stores on the High Street was targeted shortly before midnight. The shop remains closed today (Monday).
A bottle of alcohol is believed to have been taken from the store.
A 22-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on police bail.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"We were called at 11.40pm yesterday, Sunday 24 April to a report of a burglary at Central Stores on the High Street in Newport.
"A door at the front of the store was smashed. At this time it is believed a bottle of alcohol was stolen. A man aged 22 from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
"He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue."
