Local Fire Service Continuing To Deliver Thousands Of Monthly Covid Jabs

Colleagues from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) have paid homage to the volunteers at their pop-up vaccination centres.

A number of fire stations have been stood-up as centres, to give local people the opportunity to access their first, second and booster jabs.

Chief Fire Officer, Neil Odin, said:

“In December, I asked for volunteers to come forward and assist our communities and health partners, knowing Covid-19 was likely to put us all under significant strain during the winter months.

“The response has been amazing. I’m delighted to see how our colleagues are pulling together during this difficult time to offer help, while making sure we are still able to fulfil our core responsibilities as a fire and rescue service.”

More than 100 colleagues have volunteered to work in vaccination centres across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, providing vital administrative support or assisting with jabs.

More than 1,200 vaccinations have been delivered at fire station pop-up clinics since mid-January.
