Isle Of Wight Records Rise In Number Of Coronavirus Cases

The Isle of Wight has recorded an additional 22 cases of coronavirus.

According to official figures, it takes the Island's total to 679 - since the pandemic started.

24 cases have been registered here in the first four days of November.

Yesterday (Tuesday), Isle of Wight Radio reported that a further two coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded at St Mary's Hospital.

A second national lockdown will come into force tomorrow. It means pubs, restaurants and most shops will have to close for four weeks.

All secondary school pupils and teachers in England are also being told to wear face masks in communal areas under the new guidance.

Government restrictions can be found here.

The Isle of Wight Council is advising us to follow the government guidelines: hands, face, space.

  • Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Wear a face-covering where appropriate.
  • Keep space from other people; 2 metres or at least 1 metre apart.

If you or someone you know, displays any symptoms, no matter how mild, the council is urging you to get a free test by calling 119 or visiting NHS.uk

The council has also produced a self-isolation toolkit to help people prepare to self-isolate if they need to.
