Isle Of Wight Radio’s Guide To Christmas Church Services

Isle of Wight Radio has compiled a list of some of the church services taking place on the Island over the festive period.

As previously reported, the Island remains in Tier One restrictions, meaning places of worship CAN open under COVID-secure measures.

Those attending religious services are expected to follow the rule of six though – with larger families exempt.

Here is a list of some of the Christmas services taking place across the Island and online:

Newport and Carisbrooke:

Newport Minster:

  • Christmas Eve: Christingle on Zoom, 3pm
  • Christmas Eve: Midnight Mass, 11.30pm
  • Christmas Day: Holy Communion, 11pm

According to the Minster’s website, those wishing to attend the service in person or on zoom should get in touch via email. All services will be also be live-streamed on Facebook.

St John’s, Carisbrooke:

  • Christmas Eve: Midnight Communion, 11.30pm
  • Christmas Day: All Age Service, 9.30am

Attendees need to book by email. Both services will also be live-streamed on the St John’s Facebook page.

St Mary’s Carisbrooke

  • Christmas Day: Holy Communion 9.30am

Attendees should book in advance via email.

Cowes:

Holy Trinity:

  • Christmas Day Service, 9.30am

The service is ticket only and will also be live-streamed on Facebook.

St Mary’s:

  • Christmas Day Service, 11am

The service is ticket only and will also be live-streamed on Facebook.

Ryde:

All Saints’:

  • Christmas Eve: Saints Alive! Does Christmas! 2pm
  • Christmas Eve: Midnight Mass, 11.30pm
  • Christmas Day: Christmas Day Eucharist, 9am

Seating is limited

West Wight:

All Saints, Freshwater:

  • Christmas Eve: Nativity Service, 4pm
  • Christmas Day: Holy Communion, 9.30am

Spaces are limited and can be reserved by contacting the churchwardens.

St Agnes, Freshwater Bay

  • Christmas Day: Morning Worship, 10.30am
