Isle Of Wight NHS Trust Shortlisted For Three National Awards

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust has been shortlisted in three categories for this year’s Health Service Journal Awards (HSJ).

The Trust's Community Service, nominated in the ‘Primary and Community Care Provider of the Year’ category, plays a vital role in supporting people with complex health and care needs to live independently in their own homes.

Over the last four years, it has improved community services, staff wellbeing and support, and services for people living in our local communities.

The Trust has been shortlisted in the following categories:

  • Primary and Community Care Provider of the Year
  • Provider Collaboration of the Year - Hampshire and Isle of Wight
  • HSJ Partnership Award

Chief Operating Officer, Joe Smyth, said:

“The introduction of a virtual patient pathway across urology, gastroenterology and gynaecology significantly helped to reduce outpatient backlogs during the height of the pandemic.

"This transformative approach has meant that thousands of Isle of Wight patients have had their clinical care far sooner than would otherwise have been possible.

“This nomination is recognition of the award-winning partnership with Medefer and that this work is indeed considered best practice, and everyone involved should be proud of this achievement.”

Now in its 42nd year, the HSJ Awards continue to provide an opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding efforts and achievements that individuals and teams across the sector deliver on a daily basis.

The awards ceremony will take place in London on Thursday November 17.
