Isle Of Wight Masons Give Boost To Isle Of Wight Radio Toy Appeal

Members of the Isle of Wight Masons and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service present some of their donations to Isle of Wight Radio.

The Isle of Wight Toy Appeal has received a massive boost thanks to the Isle of Wight Masons, and friends at the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

Members of the Masons, along with firefighters, paid a surprise visit to Isle of Wight Radio on Friday.

The service's Aerial Ladder Platform, Motorbike Santa, and a van full of some of the £3,000 worth of toys donated by the Masons arrived at our studios, to the sound of sirens.

The Isle of Wight Toy Appeal has faced a difficult year in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, but with more children in need on the Isle of Wight than ever, it's also been one of its most important years so far.

Thanks to the generosity of Islanders, the appeal is now well on its way to meeting its goal of ensuring every young person on the Isle of Wight gets a present at Christmas.

Pete Edwards, Solent Chairty Steward of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Freemasons said:

"The Isle of Wight Toy Appeal is probably the biggest on the Island, and gets all the toys directly to all the families.

"It's all come together in the last three weeks, we weren't going to do it because of coronavirus, but then a group of us thought its probably more prominent this year, as there'll be more families in need."

Donations to the Toy Appeal can be made until December 7th, and we'd really appreciate your help to make Christmas special for every child on the Isle of Wight.
