Isle Of Wight Man's Marathon Charity Challenge For Mountbatten

An Isle of Wight man has set himself the marathon challenge of running 10km every day in April, to raise money for Mountbatten.

Daniel Reeve is hoping to raise money for the Island's hospice - a place he holds close to his heart.

The 31 year old, who grew up on the Island, told Isle of Wight Radio he wants to give something back after the care the hospice showed his mother, before she sadly died in 2019.

The keen footballer has been training hard in recent weeks and wants to run 10km each day - the equivalent of 186 miles, or seven marathons.

Daniel said:

"I want to try and raise money for Mountbatten, as it is a place extremely close to my heart.

"Unfortunately, I had to spend some time there when I visited my mum when she was receiving care from the hospice in 2019. The staff were amazing and they couldn’t do enough for her each time she was there.

"I know that unfortunately many people rely on the hospice for so many different things, and I understand how far the money goes to help them provide the amazing work they do."

He added:

"I want to push myself in April and do something that won’t be easy. I will be running every day, as well as working night shifts and trying to keep up with my young daughter. But I can’t complain at all, it’s the least I can do to help out such an amazing place.

"Even if the money I raise only helps one person in the smallest of ways, it would’ve all been worth it."

Danny has set up a GoFundMe page, which can be found here.
