Isle Of Wight E10 Petrol Roll-Out: Will Your Car Run On It?

A new, more eco-efficient petrol is being introduced at stations across the Isle of Wight - but some vehicles may not be able to run on it.

In an attempt to cut the UK’s annual C02 emissions by 750,000 tons, E5 is being replaced by E10 at 'most filling stations'.

The Government is looking to roll-out the new fuel as the standard petrol grade.

However, there is a warning it could be incompatible with around 600,000 cars.

Does my vehicle take E10?

Every petrol vehicle built after 2011 should accept E10.

But the RAC says the majority of classic cars and a handful of early Noughties models won't be able to run on the new fuel.

Drivers of the affected vehicles will instead have to use E5 super unleaded – which has more tax slapped on it.

An online checker has been put together by the Department for Transport (DfT) for drivers to check whether their car is compatible.

You can check your vehicle here https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10-petrol.service.gov.uk/.

The Government has warned it will not be liable for any damage done to a vehicle as a result of the service.
