A dog has been affectionately nicknamed 'Spinney' after being spotted getting excited on Ryde Esplanade most mornings.

A new webcam was launched at the Royal Esplanade Hotel recently, which is streamed live to YouTube.

It shows panoramic views across the Solent, with watchers near and far enjoying the sights of Hovertravel, Island Line and the Solent.

But one character has been catching the eye - a sheepdog who arrives at the same time of around 8.30am most days with whose thought to be his owner.

As soon as the dog sees the train approaching, he starts spinning and jumping around in excitement - to the delight of webcam watchers.

Viewer, Clifford Allen, told Isle of Wight Radio:

"I notice around 8.30am, a gentleman walking his dog waits at the station until the train arrives from Shanklin and the dog reacts by doing a spinning kind of dance.

"I haven't commented on the live chat, but many have, calling the dog Spinney."

You can watch the live video below:

Do you know who Spinney is? Are you 'Spinney's' owner?
